FAQ: Who do you call if you suspect animal neglect, animal abuse, or animal cruelty?

Q: Who do you call if you suspect animal neglect, animal abuse, or animal cruelty?

A: If you witness suspected cruelty to animals, animal abuse, dog abuse, or neglect of animals, call your local animal control agency as soon as possible or dial 9-1-1 if you’re unfamiliar with local organizations. If you make a report of alleged animal cruelty, the responding agency is required to investigate. If it’s safe to do so, it may also be helpful to take photos and/or video of the suspected neglect and/or cruelty to show to the animal control officer or responding agency.
